Hello, I'm Lisa and I love to move. I am a certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, and Pre and Postnatal Fitness Specialist.
As a fitness professional, I've been helping people find joy in movement for 19 years. I've had the privilege of working with a diverse array of people in a variety of capacities. I've trained elite athletes in Pilates, taught yoga to mamas and their babies, supported survivors of neuromuscular trauma in rehabilitative exercise, danced with kids, circuit-trained in the great outdoors with weekend warriors, coached golden-aged grandparents in the magic of lifting heavy, and so much more. Teaching movement will forever have my heart.
When I became pregnant with my first child, my relationship with exercise experienced a dramatic shift. Movement as a means of nourishing my body and my baby was brought into sharp focus. I continued to teach, train, and stay active, however, I found that when it came to exercising as a pregnant person, I was surprisingly underprepared. This is to say nothing of how completely blindsided I felt by the recovery process after my daughter was born. In this sentiment, I know that I am not alone.
My journey into motherhood has influenced my perspective surrounding exercise, birthing bodies, and what it means to be a model of confidence and strength for my girls. I have so much admiration and compassion for mamas. This parenting s—t is hard. It’s particularly hard when you feel unable to give your physical body the care and respect that it deserves.
My philosophy as an exercise specialist centers on the idea of movement as a keystone behaviour. When you make regular, mindful movement a part of your everyday, everything else gets easier. Eating well, sleeping, managing stress, building mental resiliency, maintaining relationships, and of course, parenting, all get easier when you move. My goal is to give as many birthing people as possible the information, support, and guidance needed to move beautifully and confidently through pre-conception, pregnancy, and the postpartum.
